Indoor Air Quality

Efficient Heating

Selecting a home with an energy efficient furnace (90% efficient and above) not only saves on heating costs, it's also healthier and safer.  These sealed-combustion furnaces recover heat by recapturing it after it is blown outside, and bring the it back inside for the combustion process.  Less efficient furnaces use air from inside the home for the recovery process, which creates the potential for carbon monoxide backing up into the home.

Also note that high-efficiency furnaces which use a 4" media filter with a HEPA filter are superior to thinner 1" filters because they trap more contaminants and last much longer.
