Slump - Key to Minimizing Cracks

To achieve the highest quality foundation wall, concrete must have the right consistency. Water is mixed with concrete to make it easier to work with, yet concrete does not require much water to cure. Too much water weakens the concrete and increases the likelihood of shrinkage cracks.

A 4 ½” slump is a good balance. It’s low enough to minimize cracking, but contains enough water to place the concrete properly. Coello adds a midrange water reducer to the concrete mix to increase workablilty, rather than additional water, to achieve the right balance.
