Double-drip Caps Prevent Leaks
Double drip caps help prevent water penetration.
Wide cedar window trim around all windows, not just the front elevation, gives homes a more finished, sturdy appearance. But when wide window trim is installed around windows and door units, two possible entry points are created for water. One is the joint above the top piece of trim, and the other is the joint just above the window unit to prevent water from leaking behind. Many builders don’t install drip caps at all, but the best solution is to install a double-drip cap over every window and door to eliminate water problems.
